i like this a lot.
Hi Julia.Linda tells me you got into CMYK?
I like the arrows in the words alot.
yah! =) it's the current issue with the cute godzilla cover. you've seen all the work before, so it's nothing new.btw, is your style changing? i dont think i remember seeing you put your colored sketchbook style linework beside your painterly stuff very much before..
As for the style question-This is a great example of using your sketchbook as a proving ground. I've been working with colored pens for years, but with little opportunity in my finished professional work. So, recently, I've been intentionally looking for places where I can draw directly on the final art without a sketch underneath. Its frightening! The lobster piece a few weeks back was done without a sketch underneath. I think it is healthy to practice a discipline of risk. It easy to get comfortable with a proven process and never flirt with failure. I like the line drawings, but its not right for every piece.
Just had a weekend in Berlin with students so catching up with your drawings in church. Each Sunday as I start mine I now have you in mind as well!!When is the next IAM conference? Maybe I could get over from London.
sorry - week!! a weekend is not enough for all that art and history in Berlin!!
Dear JohnCan save you having to answer - just checked out the website. Looks like I will have to plan for IAM 2009!enjoy....
Too bad we'll miss each other this year. Keep checking in on the blog.
