The children made ornaments and decorated a Jesse Tree during church today.
I wanted to decorate one too.
Want to step into the time machine? Here is a painting I did during my undergraduate years, on the same theme. For a time, I hoped to become the Chris Van Allsburg of drybrush acrylics. It didn't work out.

that is a blast from the past. i like what you're doing now much, much more.
I think you meant to say, "It didn't work out, much to the dismay of Matt Kirkland's extended family."
Watch out, there might be an expose in a coming issue of CA on how you used to be a Van Allsburg rip off.
Who knows how many times I've said this before, but that's a beautiful stump.
a- thank you dearest
mk- but I can thank them for paying a month of NYC rent
NJ- zing
o- thanks friend- another beautiful picture from the scriptures
that illustration is awesome! i wish i could do that.
Great work John. Love the church drawings.
St Louis, church pews, references to the church year.
Are you a fellow Lutheran John?
Close Tim, we would differ on baptism, but we share love of pews and the pentecost!
-Presbyterian.
I was close: )
Are you a fan of theologian RC Sproul?
I know RC Sproul, but have never read him. Not sure I'd say I'm a super fan- given that I'm not a super-calvinist.
wowzers that blast from the past is so different from your stuff now! it'd be fun to see posts like this more often. it definitely reassures that you don't have to have figured out your voice while still in undergrad (well, at least for the crazy students like me that are always freaking out about that stuff). :D
